The newcomers helped Simba, who are camping in the island for the Mainland Premier League, win 5-2 against the Zanzibar side.
New faces who played are Novat Makunga who crossed over from
newly-promoted premier league side African Sports of Tanga and Mohammed
Fakhi who was recruited at the beginning of the season from JKT Ruvu.
Fakhi who has been sidelined in the team because of injuries,
coordinated well with co-defender Makunga, both played a full 90
minutes.
The defence played well despite the two goals which the technical bench attributed to inattentive goalkeeping.
Apart from the two, teenage striker Hijja Ugando, who played for the first time for the Msimbazi Street club, also scored.
Ibrahim Hajib scored a brace in the 14th and 46th minutes, Danny
Lyanga in the 32end minutes and Mussa Hassan ‘Mgosi’ struck in the 38th
minute.
Simba are camping in Zanzibar to prepare for a tough premier league match against leaders Azam FC on December 12.
Simba are placed fourth in the 16-team league with 21 points out of nine games, one point below Mtibwa Sugar, at third place.
Azam FC lead with 25 points while defending champions Young Africans SC are second.
The league went into a halt to allow players appear for the
national teams, Kilimanjaro Stars and Zanzibar Heroes, in the Senior
Challenge Cup. Both sides left the tournament in early rounds.
Meanwhile, Yanga hit Kinondoni Municipal Council (KMC) 4-2 in a
friendly game played at Boko Veterans ground in Dar es Salaam yesterday.
Yanga are gearing up for a Mainland Premier League match against Mgambo JKT also set for December 12.
Matheo Simon hit a hat trick for Yanga while Zimbabwean striker Thabani Kamusoko upped the score.
KMC goals were scored by Simba B teen Said Abdallah who is playing on loan.
